No. Every store with a DNS-safe store name gets its subdomain automatically — no DNS records, settings, or purchase required.
Yes. Your existing path-based URL continues to work exactly as before. The subdomain is an additional, cleaner address for the same store.
A store name with spaces or special characters that aren't valid in a web address falls back to the standard path-based URL automatically. Nothing breaks — your store just won't have a subdomain until the name is updated to a DNS-safe one.
Not yet — custom root domains aren't supported at this time. Every store does get a clean e2c.store subdomain automatically.
